Personality

Cain was the human infant that was swapped for Thomas by the fey. He was left in Limbo, the land of the fey, where he managed to survive for an incredibly long time. Cain was perhaps the first human who was able to actually escape Limbo; a feat which by all accounts should not have been possible. As a result, he is almost entirely numb, both physically and mentally. Parts of his body, such as his forearms and lower legs, have blackened and died in a way that prevents any physical sensation to be felt. His hair is in the process of turning white, and he is likely to die within the next decade due to the corruption he contracted from Limbo.

Due to his circumstances, Cain already appears to be dead in many regards. He has a silent, stoic stature, as well as an eerie silence that weighs heavy on those around him. While he would not admit it, the faeries he grew up around influenced Cain's attraction to romantic, outdated clothes. This only draws more attention to him, as his black-and-white appearance coupled with clothes from the past truly make him appear as more of an apparition than a physical human being.

Cain considers himself a vengeful spirit, leaving his one goal in life to kill Thomas before he succumbs from his own illness. In other regards, he relies on the same survival instincts that got him out of Limbo alive. He has killed many fey creatures and is unremorseful about injuring others if he deems it is for his own safety. Naturally, he has an overall distrust for faeries, but longs for human connection, which proves difficult due to his cold and aloof demeanor.
